Rostok Vampires is a German thrash metal band from Dortmund, which was founded in 1986, dissolved again in 1993 and re-joined in 2001.

History

The band was founded in 1986. After various changes in the cast, the band played a concert in Berlin (West) on New Year's Day 1988. In October the band went to the masterplan studio and recorded 21 songs in three days and sent them to various labels. The band reached a contract for three albums at Nuclear Blast. The band recorded their debut album Transylvanian Disease in 1988 and released it in the summer of the following year. The album was at that time the most successful of the label so far.

On 15 November the band began a tour of the clubs of Europe together with Impulse Manslaughter. In addition, an EP called Pay the Price was released, which contained six songs that did not make the debut album. The band played in the Netherlands, France, Italy, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland and Germany. The tour included 38 performances spread over six weeks.
In 1990, two other club tours followed, and almost two times every weekend in Germany. In the middle of the year the band recorded the second album called Misery in the masterplan studio and released the album in autumn. To promote the album, the band held a tour together with Suckspeed. In 1991, guitarist Bulla left the band, leaving the group without going into. This was followed by a tour of Poland. At the end of the year, the band recorded their next album at the Vielklang Studios in Berlin.
Torment of Transformation was published in spring 1992. The Last Crash Tour began early in the summer. For this the band released the EP Stone Dead Forever, on which previously unpublished material was to be heard. The last performance took place on 2 June in Karlsruhe. Because singer Christian Schwieghusen felt too exhausted to be even more active with the band, he parted from this. The band tried to replace them, but they did not succeed, which resulted in the band breaking up in the following year.

After a rehearsal at the end of 2001, the band decided to play concerts again. Bulla returned to the band and bassist Thomas Supe replaced Doerfel. The comeback was held on 22 June 2002 in Unna. In July, the band recorded a demo called In The Pitch and released it in 2003. The album New Morning was released in 2006 via Trashmark Records.
The band used to play aggressive songs, but the songs are now drier and more sluggish. The band is compared with The Traceelords.
