Tonchirurgie is an electro gothic and dark wave band from Hamburg Germany. The interview will be with Doutora Ines Glühfinger.
Member of the art and music-project Tonchirurgie. Musician, composer, director and mastermind in the world of Tonchirurgie.
Glühfinger: There are plans all the time! Tonchirurgie is not a band in the classical way, we call it an open culture project. At the time we have plans for different things, for example a concert on a ship in autumn 2017, name is Cap San Diego. There we are creating live electronic soundscapes as a part of an dark art exhibition. A new video with a violinplayer is in the production now, we work regulary with different artists.

Glühfinger: Tonchirurgie started in 2007 as a Rockband, we played only in Europe, had a tour in Spain, I played bass, later rock-guitar and we had a performance show on stage. We changed our instruments in direction to electronic and integrated synthesizers into rock. To have better control on sound, we eleminated the live drums and now, the last years, we played with electronic equipment.
5) What are the themes in your lyrics? And why?
Glühfinger: To make art is the main imperative, music and sound is a special language, somehow not to translate, that is the worth of it for us. To find a new way of expression, to find words, pictures and sounds in our way. Not to have the commercial way of doing: „How do I have to realize it, to sell it?“. Open minded. Team work. Cooperations with other artists. So, the themes come out of life itself, are from serious to humor, from darkness to light, from peace and war, ironic, artificial, futuristic,… we have no limit here. Over many themes flies something like a dark atmosphere and you could feel it in the sounds too, that`s why some people say, we are dark electro, but in reality we are very open and have no headline.
Glühfinger: All synthesizers, when they plant visions in our mind. All sounds, visions, communications and ideas in the world …
7) In your opinion. What do you think about Electro scene around the world and how many countries have you been playing...
Glühfinger: It´s a digital revolution going on and on in the last years, we are back with new Modularsynthesizers and there is no end visible. We visited many countries from China to Brasil, but the conditions of music industrie are very different. In Brasil you have very high taxes on import, it´s difficult to compare all the situations. Electronic music is a worldwide art, we have about 8000 new songs in the internet, only in one minute. The commercial meaning changed, the way to use and be with it changed too, free listening, download… enjoy the music you like, but first search for it.
